A felt bag
Felting is the oldest way of processing wool.
With the little help of soap and wool in various shades you can make various unique objects.
We will show you how to make a simple bag.
Material and tools:
- wool for felting
- a towel
- an old curtain
- nylon for packing
- liquid soap
- a cardboard with chosen pattern
How to:
1 Place nylon on the work surface and then a thick towel over it. Place the cardboard on the towel - it will separate the front and the back side of the bag. Cover it with the bits of wool.
2 Turn the cardboard over and then spread the wool on the other side. Use wool of different shade to make a pattern.
3 Cover the wool on both sides with the old curtain. Wet the curtain and the wool.
4 Spread the liquid soap and dab until you get thick foam.
5 Once you have foamed the material well, roll it tightly into the nylon. Roll the wool and squeeze it to get a thick material - felt.
6 When the wool is squeezed enough and becomes solid, unroll it and using a plastic bag rub it thoroughly with circular moves so that the surface threads get interwoven as well.
7 Rinse with cold water and leave it to dry. Take out the cardboard and interweave the handles.
